Blue Devils blanket Cardinals 2-0 in WHAC matchup

(Southfield, MI) – Concordia men's soccer traveled to Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon for a WHAC conference matchup. The Cardinals entered 3-6 overall while the Blue Devils came in 2-6 overall and 2-1 in WHAC conference play. Lawrence Tech scored an early goal and stayed ahead to hand CUAA a 2-0 loss.

Spencer Ward (SR/Rochester, MI) received the start in goal for the Cardinals, tying his career-high with 12 saves in the contest. Ward made 3 saves in the 1st half, but the Blue Devils scored the first goal just 23 seconds into the game. Concordia's best opportunity of the half came on a corner kick taken by Boris Illic (JR/Clinton Township, MI) in the 23rd minute. Lawrence Tech led 1-0 at halftime.

The Cardinals kept attacking with a pair of corner kicks taken by Tanguy Flachez (JR/Lyon, France). However, Lawrence Tech tacked on another goal to go up 2-0. Spencer Ward continued to do his best to keep Concordia in the game, making 9 more saves in the 2nd half. Steven Soboslay (SO/Chesterfield, MI) took a pair of shots on goal for the Cardinals towards the end of the game, but the Blue Devils claimed the 2-0 win.

Concordia will play their next game on Wednesday, October 9 when the team travels to the University of Northwest Ohio. The game is set to begin at 4pm.
