Saints blanket Cardinals 6-0 in WHAC matchup

(Grand Rapids, MI) – Concordia men's soccer went on the road to face Aquinas on Saturday afternoon. Both teams came into the contest looking to earn their second WHAC conference win of the year. While Concordia outshot Aquinas 19-17 after a strong second half, Aquinas pulled away early and handed the Cardinals a 6-0 loss.

Marino Moraccini (SR/Shelby Township, MI) started in goal for the Cardinals, notching 2 saves in the game. The Saints struck first with a goal in the 11th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Cardinals threatened with corner kicks off the feet of Tanguy Flachez (JR/Lyon, France) and Boris Illic (JR/Clinton Township, MI), but Aquinas added another goal in the 23rd minute. The Saints added 2 late goals and led 4-0 after the 1st half.

The Cardinals attacked the net early in the 2nd half with 3 shots on goal in the first 2 minutes. While Concordia outshot Aquinas 16-3 overall in the half, the Saints' defense held strong while the offense added 2 more goals. CUAA fell 6-0 after the final buzzer sounded.

Concordia will play their next game at home on Wednesday, October 23 when the team hosts Cleary. Game time is set for 1pm.
