Concordia Softball adds Emma Thompson to recruiting class

(Ann Arbor, MI) Head softball coach Hailey Cavanagh and the Concordia softball program have announced the signing of Emma Thompson from Emmett, Michigan.

Emma played under John Strenk at Yale High School where she pitched for the Bulldogs. Thompson was four-year varsity player at Yale while being named 2021 team captain, team MVP, 1st Team All-Conference, and Academic All-Conference. Strenk had this to say about Emma, "What an amazing night! To watch a young lady's hard work over the years, turn into all smiles with signing to play college softball!"

"Emma is someone who instantly caught our eye because of her work ethic and ability to adapt on the mound," said Cardinal Head Coach Hailey Cavanagh. "She puts in a ton of time with lessons and different pitching programs to continue her velocity and spin work.  We are excited to see how Emma will impact the Cardinals in her time here."

Emma is the daughter of Gary and Lisa and has two siblings, Carol-Ann and Brandon. Thompson plans on majoring in Nursing while at Concordia.

"Ever since I was a little girl it was my dream to play softball at the collegiate level," said Emma. "I am beyond humbled and grateful for this opportunity. There is no better place to get an education and play the game I love than Concordia University. From the beautiful chapel, to the sense of family and support from Coach Cavanagh and the rest of her staff, to the scenic views overlooking the Huron River, I knew instantly, after stepping foot on campus, that Concordia would be my home away from home for the next 4 years."
