Softball sweeps Warriors at Rochester

(Rochester, MI) The Concordia Softball team competed in another WHAC doubleheader on Sunday, traveling to Rochester. The Cardinals swept the Warriors winning game one 7-2 and game two 3-0.

 

Game 1: Concordia 7, Rochester 2

Hannah Duchene started at pitcher for the Cardinals, going 3.2 innings and allowing two runs. She allowed three hits while striking out two. Kendall Kahl relieved Duchene and earned the win after her 3.1 innings of work.

Payton Lewis brought home the first run of the game with a ground out in the first. Maddy Grueter hit a two run homer in the top of the third which was followed by a Bella Lee three run shot. Abbie Begley tacked on an insurance run in the fifth inning to close out the game as a 7-2 victory for the Cardinals.

 

Game 2: Concordia 3, Rochester 0

Paige Anderson pitched a complete game shutout for the Cardinals in game two. The freshman allowed just six baserunners over seven innings, while striking out two.

Cassidy Kane got the Cardinals on the board in the top of the second with a solo homerun. Maddy Grueter scored Karley Kent with a fly out later in the inning. Bella Lee brought home Cassidy Kane in the fifth inning to add the Cardinals' third and final run.

 

 

The Cardinals will be back in action on Wednesday, April 27th, with another WHAC contest against Cornerstone University. First pitch will be at 3:00 PM in Grand Rapids.
