(Ann Arbor, MI) The Concordia Softball team hosted Miami-Hamilton in a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon. The Cardinal offense scored 11 runs in each game, with the two Cardinal pitchers combining for just one earned run allowed in the doubleheader sweep.

Game 1: Concordia 11, Miami-Hamilton 1

Paige Anderson started game one in the circle for Concordia, pitching all five innings. Anderson allowed just one run with 3 baserunners, while striking out four.

After a Payton Lewis steal, Shannon McAlinden brought her home with a single up the middle. McAlinden was plated by a Dee Campbell double to left. Bella Lee doubled to bring in Campbell for the Cardinals' third run of the first.

The Cardinals exploded for 8 runs in the bottom of the fourth when Bella Lee doubled down the left field line for her second double and RBI of the day. That was followed up by a Payton Lewis three-run shot to make it a six-run advantage. Dee Campbell scored two on a triple after that, and later scored on a Maddy Grueter single. Bella Lee hit her third RBI double of the game, and second of the inning to give Concordia the 10-run advantage.

Game 2: Concordia 11, Miami-Hamilton 3

Hannah Duchene started game two for the Cardinals and pitched all 6 innings. She allowed no earned runs and just 7 baserunners while striking out 5 in the process.

The Harriers scored three runs in the top of the first, but all were unearned due to three errors in the field. The Cardinals responded quickly in the bottom of the inning with three runs of their own. The first two came off of a passed ball and wild pitch respectively. Shannon McAlinden launched a solo shot to even things up.

Abbie Begley scored off of a Dee Campbell sacrifice fly to take the lead in the third.

Payton Lewis tacked on another run with an RBI single in the fourth and Abbie Begley batted in two more runs with a double.

Maddy Grueter drove in a run in the bottom of the sixth to make it a five-run game. It was then Dee Campbell who hit a three-run homer as a walk-off thanks to the run rule.

The Cardinals will remain at home for a WHAC doubleheader against Lawrence Tech this Saturday. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
