Jennifer Miller named WHAC Defensive Player of the Week

(Ann Arbor, MI) – The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced their weekly player of the week recipients on Monday afternoon and Jennifer Miller was named defensive player of the week.  Miller led the Cardinals defense with 12 draw controls, 6 ground balls, and caused 3 turnovers. Miller's defensive efforts led to a 2-0 week for the Cardinals.

In the Cardinals 15-14 thrill over Siena Heights, Miller recorded eight draw controls and four ground balls. Miller anchored the Cardinals defense and allowing control of the possession and field. Miller also contributed on the offensive side recorded two assists as well.

The Cardinals picked up their second win of the week against Aquinas, 16-3. Miller was effective on both sides of the field. She recorded four draw controls and two ground balls while causing a turnover. Miller showed her versatility with three goals and one assist on the offensive side of the field as well.

Miller leads the team in draw controls with a season total of 22 and ranks third in the WHAC.

This is the second time this season that Miller has received defensive player of the week honors. She also earned in on March 3 after leading the team's defensive efforts in their 17-7 win over Indiana Tech on February 27th. This is the fourth time in her career that she has received this honor. She won it once last year as well as the first time during the 18-19 season.

The invidual accolades for Miller and other Cardinals throughout the season have attributed to the team's success. The Cardinals earned the 8th spot in last week's NAIA coaches poll. The Cardinals will return to action on Friday as they host Bethel University. The game is scheduled for Noon.
