No. 8 Women's lacrosse defeats Bethel 24-4 on Senior Day

 (Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia women's lacrosse celebrated senior day on Friday afternoon when they hosted Bethel for a non-conference game.  Prior to the game, the #8-ranked Cardinals honored their four senior team members: Amanda Archer, Greyson Papp, Katie Snow, and Yasmin Seraiva-Meissner.  CUAA got their offense going early and cruised to a 24-4 victory.

 

Alyssa Lundy led the team with 5 goals along with 3 assists.  Cassandra Allard and Madisyn Fox notched 4 goals apiece.  Madalyn Fields continued to be excellent in the faceoff circle with 10 draw controls.  Goaltender Amanda Archer led the team with 6 ground balls and 6 caused turnovers while adding 3 saves.

 

Bethel scored the first goal just 18 seconds into the game, but Alyssa Lundy quickly answered with a marker just 10 seconds later.  Jennifer Miller scored a go-ahead goal and Greyson Papp tacked on a power-play tally as well. 

 

Alyssa Lundy continued the offensive surge with her second goal of the game.  Cassandra Allard added her second goal and both Nicole Bordo and Taylor Nesbitt converted while shorthanded for a 7-1 lead.  Bethel ended the run with a powerplay goal, but Concordia responded with both Greyson Papp and Taylor Nesbitt scoring their second markers of the game.

 

Cassandra Allard scored shorthanded to push the Cardinals to double-digits with a 10-2 advantage.  Alyssa Lundy completed her hat trick and Allard finished her hat trick while adding a fourth goal as well.  Madisyn Fox rounded out scoring in the first half for Concordia and the team led 14-3 at halftime.

 

Madisyn Fox opened the second half with a free position goal.  Alyssa Lundy curled in front of the net and stuffed in her fourth goal of the game.  Madisyn Fox finished off her hat trick with Cassandra Allard drawing the assist.

 

Jennifer Miller got her name on the scoresheet and Madisyn Fox tacked on a fourth goal.  Alyssa Lundy notched her fifth tally of the game and Nicole Bordo recorded her second marker.

 

With the Cardinals enjoying a comfortable lead, the team was able to move some players to different positions.  Senior defender Yasmin Seraiva-Meissner scored her first career goal after a pass from Madisyn Fox.  Senior Katie Snow ran in front of the net and recorded her first tally of the game.  In the last 5 seconds, Brooke Shaffer recorded her first career goal on a free position shot to finish the game.

 

 

Concordia will head on the road for their next game at Lourdes on Wednesday, April 7 at 7pm.
