Women's Lacrosse bested by #6 Cumberlands

(Williamsburg, KY) – Concordia women's lacrosse finished their spring break trip down south Monday afternoon with a matchup against the 6th-ranked University of the Cumberlands Patriots. The Patriots got off to a fast start in the opening quarter and rode a big lead to an eventual 22-3 victory. 

 

Nicole Bordo led the Cardinals in scoring with a pair of goals. Michaela Ullery led CUAA with a team high 4 ground balls and made 11 saves in net for Concordia. 

 

The Patriots would come out the gate flying, scoring 10 goals in the opening 10 minutes of the contest and adding an 11th-straight early in the second quarter, before Madisyn Fox took a feed from Tara Drinane and beat the Cumberlands goaltender for the first Cardinal goal of the game. The Patriots would pick up 2 more goals before the end of the frame, making it a 13-1 contest at the halftime break.

 

Nicole Bordo picked up the first goal of the second half, and added one in the fourth quarter, but Cumberlands would rack up 9 more scores in the final 30 minutes of play, securing a 22-3 win in the contest. 

 

The Cardinals will be back in action Saturday, March 18th, when they open up WHAC play with a matchup against the Bethel Pilots. Game time is set for 5pm at the Morey Field in Mishawaka, IN.
