Women's Lacrosse comes up short in offensive battle at Lourdes
 
 

(Sylvania, OH) – Concordia women's lacrosse played a Wednesday night game at Lourdes in WHAC conference play.  The Cardinals scored a season-high 20 goals and took the game down to the wire, but the Gray Wolves claimed a 21-20 win. 

 

Michaela Ullery played the first half in goal, making 10 saves.  Katelynn Lawson and Madisyn Fox opened scoring with free position goals.  Lourdes rallied with 4 unanswered markers until Isabella Komarowski notched a powerplay goal.  Katelynn Lawson scored her 2nd in the final 23 seconds and CUAA trailed 6-4 after the 1st. 

Isabella Komarowski completed her hat trick to start the 2nd quarter and tie the game 6-6.  Lourdes responded with a 9-6 lead, but Madisyn Fox notched her second marker and Isabella Komarowski chipped in two more goals to keep pace.  Tara Drinane tied the game off a feed from Madisyn Fox and CUAA trailed 11-10 at halftime. 

 

Peyton Long came in to play goalie in the second half, recording 2 saves.  Taylor Armstrong tied the game with a quick shot on the powerplay early in the 3rd.  Lourdes countered with another run but Taylor Nesbitt answered with a pair of goals.  Alana Mortimer converted a free position shot and Nesbitt finished her hat trick in the final seconds.  CUAA trailed 17-15 after the 3rd. 

Taylor Nesbitt tallied to open the 4th quarter.  Katelynn Lawson scored on the fast break off an assist from Nesbitt to keep pace.  Taylor Nesbitt continued her strong play with the team's next three goals, tying the game 20-20 and reaching 7 markers on the night. 

Lourdes scored with 23 seconds remaining to retake the lead and secure the win. 

 

Concordia will return home this Saturday to celebrate Senior Day against Rochester at 1pm.
