Women's Lacrosse outlasts Madonna 16-14

(Livonia, MI) – Concordia women's lacrosse played at Madonna on Saturday afternoon in WHAC play.  The Cardinals found themselves in an offensive shootout and claimed a 16-14 victory. 

 

Peyton Long played a complete game in net, making 9 saves.  Katelynn Lawson scored a free position goal to open scoring.  Madonna evened the score, but Anna Kordyzon found the back of the net and Isabella Komarowski scored on a free position shot.  The Crusaders tied the game 3-3 after the 1st. 

Anna Kordyzon notched her second goal to reclaim the lead.  The teams continued to trade goals with Taylor Nesbitt eluding defenders and scoring.  Katelynn Lawson notched her second goal and Isabella Komarowski used her speed to find openings and finish her hat trick.  CUAA led 8-7 at halftime. 

 

Taylor Armstrong and Madisyn Fox scored free position goals to open the 3rdIsabella Komarowski continued her hot hand with her 4th marker of the game.  Alana Mortimer got on the scoresheet as well, but Madonna countered with a 3-0 run.  Taylor Nesbitt answered and Taylor Armstrong completed her hat trick with 2 goals to put CUAA up 15-10 after the 3rd. 

Madonna tightened the game with 3 straight goals in the 4thMadisyn Fox ended their run with Taylor Nesbitt drawing the assist.  Peyton Long and the Cardinal defense remained sharp down the stretch and CUAA claimed the 16-14 win as time expired. 

 

Concordia will play at Lourdes this Wednesday at 7pm.
