(Greenville, SC) Concordia University reinstated membership into the National Christian College Athletic Association prior to the 2017 academic year. As a membership benefit, student-athletes are nominated for their performances on a weekly basis.
On Monday afternoon, the NCCAA named Anna Roman (FR/Carleton, MI) the Women's Soccer Division I Defensive Student Athlete of the Week. This is the first week the NCCAA announced awards for 2019 fall sports. Roman is also the first Cardinal to be recognized this year.
Roman recorded her first career shutout on Friday afternoon in the team's 2-0 home opener win over Goshen College. Roman anchored the Cardinals defense with nine total saves. The freshman standout has started the Cardinals first two games of the season resulting in 1-1 record while recording 15 total saves.
The Cardinals will continue their non-conference schedule on Saturday, August 31st at Cardinal Stadium against Indiana University – East. The game is set to start at 1pm at Cardinal Stadium.
