Golchuk awarded First Team All-WHAC, other Cardinals recognized

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference announced the women's soccer all-conference awards and several Cardinals have received honors. Samantha Golchuk (JR/Garden City, MI) led the Cardinals being named to the first team with Adrienne Woodruff (SR/Commerce Township, MI) and Kendra Lewis (FR/Waterford, MI) earning second and newcomer team recognition respectively.

After another successful winning season and earning a 7-seed in the WHAC playoffs, the conference coaches have recognized several Cardinals for their contributions.

Samantha Golchuk was a key component to the Cardinals' success as she led the team and the entire WHAC conference with 19 regular season goals and 43 points. Golchuk's junior year puts her at first all time in the program record books in season goals (19), season conference goals (15), and career conference goals (29). Golchuk was named WHAC Player of the Week twice in 2019 after a 3 and 5 goal performance in those two weeks. This is Golchuk's first year being named to the WHAC First Team after she was given second team honors last year and all-newcomer team recognition her freshman season.

Center back Adrienne Woodruff was named to the All-WHAC Second Team for her consistent play and leadership along the Cardinal back line. After having her junior year cut short by injury, Woodruff came back into her senior campaign and started every game for Concordia. The 2019 season also brought Woodruff's first career goal on a header off of a corner kick against Cleary. The NAIA and the WHAC strive to have their coaches and athletes exemplify the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership. Woodruff was also named Concordia's representative to the Champions of Character Team for representing those values.

Freshman Kendra Lewis was named to the WHAC All-Newcomer Team for her first-year contributions to the program. Lewis was second on the team in goals with 5, and points with 13. Three of her five goals came by way of a hat trick on October 23rd.

The WHAC recognizes student-athletes that are of at least junior status academically and maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA to the All-Academic team. The Cardinals had 7 student-athletes placed on the all-academic team; Sophia Bell (SO/Ofxord, MI), Amay Ciszewski (SO/Byron, MI), Samantha Golchuk, Madeline Mueller (SR/Bixby, OK), Olyvia Putnam (SR/Zeeland, MI), Megan Schulz (SR/Farmington, MI), and Adrienne Woodruff.
