Women's soccer shutout by Blue Devils, 1-0

(Southfield, MI) – Concordia women's soccer continued WHAC conference play when they traveled to Lawrence Tech for an evening game played under the lights. The Cardinals came into the game 4-4 overall while the Blue Devils entered 6-3 on the year. The match was tightly contested, but a 2nd half goal by Lawrence Tech gave them a 1-0 win.

Samantha Golchuk (JR/Garden City, MI) took Concordia's first shot on goal in the 2nd minute and added a header in the 8th minute. Anna Roman (FR/Carleton, MI) received the start in goal for the Cardinals, making 4 of her 8 saves in a 4-minute span early in the half. Kendra Lewis (FR/Waterford, MI) added a shot on goal as well, but the game remained tied 0-0 at halftime.

Mack Rahn fired the Cardinals' first shot on goal in the 2nd half, but Lawrence Tech broke the shutout with a goal in the 66th minute. Rahn continued to attack the net with another shot and Anna Roman remained strong in net to keep Concordia close. Late in the half Kendra Lewis took a corner kick as the Cardinals looked to tie the game, but Lawrence Tech maintained their shutout in a 1-0 win.

Concordia will play their next game at home on Wednesday, October 9 when they host the University of Northwest Ohio in WHAC conference play. The game is set to begin at 1pm.
