Women's Soccer scores three straight in comeback win over Indiana Tech

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia women's soccer hosted Indiana Tech on Wednesday afternoon in a rematch of last year's first-round WHAC conference playoff match. The Cardinals entered 5-6 overall while the Warriors came in 4-8 overall and 0-5 in conference. Indiana Tech scored first, but CUAA scored three straight goals to mount a comeback and secure a 3-1 victory.

Anna Roman started in goal, making 6 saves in the contest. Concordia attacked the net early with Samantha Golchuk recording a team-high 9 shots on goal in the contest. While the Cardinals generated several chances, Indiana Tech struck first with a late goal in the 42nd minute. CUAA trailed 1-0 at halftime.

Concordia kept pushing in the 2nd half, outshooting Indiana Tech 16-5 in the period. The Cardinals tied the game in the 57th minute when Samantha Golchuk scored off an assist from Kiera Savage. Golchuk ran from the right side and kicked a powerful ball to the left side of the net. The Cardinals took the lead in the 77th minute when Amay Ciszewski scored with Isabel Stropich drawing the assist. Stropich made a well-placed pass through the defense and Ciszewski was able to dribble past the goaltender and score.

Samantha Golchuk sealed the game in the 90th minute with her second goal of the match off an assist from Adrienne Woodruff. Woodruff sent a through ball to spring Golchuk, and the junior forward found the back of the net to give Concordia an insurance goal. The Cardinals finished out the game and secured the 3-1 win.

Concordia improves to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the WHAC with the win. The Cardinals will head on the road this weekend when they travel to Aquinas on Saturday, October 19. The game is set to begin at 3pm.
