Women's Basketball overpowers Rochester 88-65

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia women's basketball hosted Rochester on Saturday afternoon for a WHAC contest. The Cardinals surged ahead in the first half and cruised to an 88-65 win.

Taylor Leatherman led the team with 24 points. Abby Long finished second with 14 points. Julia Hirt was also in double figures with 12 points. Ellery Baker had a team-high 10 rebounds.

 

Ellery Baker had the first Concordia point with a free throw. Alexx Braddock drained free throws and Abby Long knocked down an early go-ahead triple. Taylor Leatherman and Brooke Brauher converted layups and Jess Andrew also drove to the basket. Leatherman continued to find success at the free throw line and behind the arc with Julia Hirt adding a basket as well. CUAA led 24-11 after the 1st.

Taylor Leatherman scored to open the 2nd quarter. Abby Long drove to the hoop and drained a triple to extend the lead. Jess Andrew notched a pair of baskets and Long hit another 3-pointer. Chloe Bisballe scored inside, Brooke Brauher made two free throws, and Julia Hirt drilled a triple along with an "and-1". A 3-pointer from Taylor Leatherman made it 54-25 at halftime.

 

Abby Long made a 3-pointer to start the 3rd. Taylor Leatherman continued to dominate with two more successful "and-1"s. Brooke Brauher, Jess Andrew, and Alexx Braddock all chipped in free throws to push CUAA's lead to 77-44.

Izzy Hadley had a layup to end a 7-0 Rochester run. Hannah Vallier converted a layup and Hadley knocked down a 3-pointer. Angelina Haisha drilled a high-arcing triple and Maren McCallister added a late free throw. CUAA claimed the 88-65 win as time expired.

 

Concordia will travel to UNOH this Tuesday at 5:30pm before the Thanksgiving break.
