WHAC ALL-CONFERENCE AWARDS: Trio of Cardinals receive All-WHAC recognition

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced their yearly postseason awards on Thursday morning for Women's Basketball. Several Concordia student-athletes earned recognition this season following the conclusion of the regular season. 

 


FIRST TEAM

ABBY LONG | JR | PORTAGE, MICHIGAN

Abby Long makes her first appearance on the All-Conference team after leading the team in points and assists with 17.2 and 4.3 respectively. In the WHAC, Long's 17.2-point average is the fifth-highest in the conference this season, with the 4.3 assist average being the third-highest. Long also led the conference with 87 made three-pointers. 

 

TAYLOR LEATHERMAN | SR | WADSWORTH, OHIO

Taylor Leatherman is finishing her collegiate career with her second straight WHAC First Team All-Conference award. The senior's 8.1 rebounds per game put her at tenth in the conference, while she was also tenth in points per game with 14.5. 

 


ALL-DEFENSIVE TEAM

TAYLOR LEATHERMAN | SR | WADSWORTH, OHIO

Leatherman is also making her second consecutive appearance on the All-Defensive Team. Named last year's Co-Defensive Player of the Year, Leatherman continued to shut down opponents while leading the team with 1.2 steals per game. 

 


ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM

ALEXX BRADDOCK | FR | SAGINAW, MICHIGAN

Alexx Braddock was named to the All-Freshman Team for the Cardinals after a strong start to her collegiate career. Starting in 26 games for Concordia, the true freshman averaged over six points and six rebounds per game. 

 


CHAMPION OF CHARACTER

Izzy Viau was recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The senior was honored for her commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

 


ALL-ACADEMIC

The WHAC announced their All-Academic teams, which involve being a junior in Academic standing and having a cumulative GPA of 3.25. Seven Cardinals were named to the team which included Angelina Haisha, Julia Hirt, Ellie Kallner, Taylor Leatherman, McKenzie Maciejewski, Grace Sandlin, and Izzy Viau.
