Women's Basketball uses deep bench to propel themselves to 69-55 win

(Dearborn, MI) – Concordia women's basketball traveled to UM-Dearborn on Wednesday night to continue WHAC play. The Cardinals got 17 players into the game and used their depth to down the Wolverines 69-55.

Abby Long led all scorers with 21 points. Mckenzie Maciejewski and Taylor Leatherman tied for second with 9 points apiece. Leatherman added a team-high 8 rebounds.

 

Alexx Braddock had a layup assisted by Abby Long to start the offense. Taylor Leatherman drove for an early basket and both Long and Chloe Bisballe scored to knot the game 8-8. Emily McCalla converted a go-ahead layup inside and Abby Long drilled a 3-pointer. CUAA led 14-10 after the first quarter.

Ellery Baker made a free throw to start scoring in the second quarter. Julia Hirt drove for a layup and Taylor Leatherman finished an "and-1". Ellie Kallner drained a shot from behind the arc and Jess Andrew knocked down a jumper for a 25-15 lead. Abby Long nailed a triple and Mckenzie Maciejewski hit back-to-back 3-pointers. Ellery Baker had a late layup and the Cardinals doubled up the Wolverines 36-18 at halftime.

 

Abby Long made a 3-pointer to start the third quarter. Taylor Leatherman made a short jumper and Long continued to catch fire with multiple triples and jumpshots. Mckenzie Maciejewski finished an "and-1" and Taylor Leatherman added free throws. CUAA led 56-34 after the third quarter.

Chloe Bisballe pump-faked her defender and made a jumper to start the fourth quarter. Braylynn Haines knocked down a 3-pointer and scored inside to add to the lead. Angelina Haisha hit a high-arcing triple and Maren McCallister drained free throws in the final seconds. CUAA took the 69-55 win as time expired.

 

Concordia will travel to Cleary this Saturday at 5:30pm.
