Women's Basketball Long and Leatherman named to NCCAA All-Region Teams

(Ann Arbor, MI) The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced their regional women's basketball awards on Saturday and two Concordia Cardinals were recognized with All-Region honors. Abby Long was named to the NCCAA D1 Midwest First Team All-Regional Team while Taylor Leatherman was named to the Second Team. 

 

The Cardinals went 20-10 overall on the season while going 17-5 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play which helped them to a third seed in the WHAC tournament and an appearance in the WHAC semifinals. The Cardinals would fall in their final game of the season against Siena Heights. 

  

First Team All-Region

ABBY LONG | JR | PORTAGE, MI

Long was the Cardinal's leading scorer this past season with 17.7 points a game totaling 531 points which is top-12 in the NCCAA. She also leads the team in assists per game with 4.1 which is 9th in the NCCAA. This is Long's first appearance on the All-Region team. 

 

Second Team All-Region

TAYLOR LEATHERMAN | SR | WADSWORTH, OH

Leatherman was the Cardinal's 2nd highest scorer this past season with 14.4 points a game totaling 417 while pulling down 8.1 rebounds which is 18th in the NCCAA. Leatherman was honored the last two seasons as she was named to the All-Region team.
