Women's Basketball falls at Siena Heights

(Adrian, MI) - Concordia women's basketball went on the road to Siena Heights on Saturday evening. The Cardinals fought hard, but the Saints pulled away for a 75-59 win.

Julia Hirt led the team with 13 points. Taylor Leatherman was second with 12 points. Abby Long came in third with 11 points. Ellery Baker had a team-high of 7 rebounds.

 

Alexx Braddock scored inside for Concordia's first basket. Taylor Leatherman added free throws and Abby Long hit a jumper. Alexx Braddock chipped in another layup and Chloe Bisballe made a jumpshot. Jess Andrew had two free throws and CUAA trailed 18-12 after the first quarter.

Taylor Leatherman scored inside to start the second quarter. Abby Long hit a 3-pointer and Leatherman drained free throws with a layup to make it a one-point game. Long, Julia Hirt, and Ellery Baker all made free throws to keep the offense moving. Hirt knocked down a triple with one second left to put CUAA down 39-32 at halftime.

 

Julia Hirt drove for a layup early in the third quarter. Alexx Braddock and Ellie Kallner added baskets, but Siena Heights continued to pull ahead. CUAA trailed 54-39 after the third quarter.

Ellery Baker made two free throws early in the fourth quarter. Taylor Leatherman hit a triple and both Abby Long and Baker added free throws to keep the Cardinals in it. Jess Andrew drove for a layup and Julia Hirt finished off an "and-1" late in the game. Maren McCallister had a pair of free throws but CUAA fell 75-59 as time expired.

 

Concordia will travel to Indiana Tech this Wednesday at 6pm.
