Women’s Basketball falls to Cornerstone
(Grand Rapids, MI) – Concordia women's basketball traveled to Cornerstone on Saturday afternoon in WHAC play.  The contest went down to the wire with Cornerstone coming away with a 72-67 win. 
Abby Long led all scorers with 22 points. Ellery Baker was second with 14 points along with a team-high 9 rebounds. 
 
Abby Long opened scoring with a jumper.  Ellery Baker added a layup and Jess Andrew drained free throws as the lead shifted early on.  Abby Long and Emily McCalla added baskets with Baker scoring inside.  Long hit a late jumper and the game was tied 15-15 after the first quarter. 
Abby Long made a pair of jumpers to start the second quarter.  Ellery Baker scored and Long drove to the hoop.  Ellie Kallner got on the scoresheet and Abby Long nailed a triple.  Taylor Leatherman and Ellery Baker had late baskets, but Cornerstone rallied to lead 36-32 at halftime. 
 
Julia Hirt had a layup early in the third quarter.  Ellery Baker and Alexx Braddock also converted inside to keep the game close.  Julia Hirt and Taylor Leatherman scored to tie the game 42-42.  Emily McCalla drilled a go-ahead triple and Alexx Braddock scored in the paint.  Ellery Baker had a layup and two free throws late, but Cornerstone led 56-53 after the third quarter. 
Taylor Leatherman made two jumpshots to start the fourth quarter. Abby Long hit two triples to push the Cardinals ahead 63-61.  However, Cornerstone answered with a 7-0 run to retake the lead.  Emily McCalla and Alexx Braddock had late baskets, but CUAA fell 72-67 as time expired. 
 
Concordia will traveI to UM-Dearborn this Wednesday at 5:30pm.
