Women's Basketball tops UM-Dearborn 67-51

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia women's basketball hosted UM-Dearborn on Wednesday night in WHAC conference play. The Cardinals controlled the pace throughout and came away with a 67-51 win.

Abby Long led the team with 23 points. Julia Hirt finished second with 9 points. Alexx Braddock had a team-high 9 rebounds.

 

Alexx Braddock opened scoring with a layup. Chloe Bisballe drove to the hoop and Brooke Brauher knocked down a triple. Bisballe and Long added baskets and a Julia Hirt layup gave the Cardinals a 15-4 lead. Jess Andrew scored down the stretch and CUAA led 17-11 after the 1st.

Brooke Brauher scored inside to start the second quarter. Abby Long hit a triple to push the lead back to double digits and Brauher drained free throws. Julia Hirt nailed a jumpshot and Abby Long continued to lead the offense with a 3-pointer and a drive. Braylynn Haines chipped in a pair of layups around a McKenzie Maciejewski triple. Julia Hirt made free throws for a 41-20 lead at halftime.

 

Abby Long drained free throws to start the 3rd quarter. Ellery Baker drove for a layup and both Long and McKenzie Maciejewski had baskets as well. Alexx Braddock scored inside, Emily McCalla made a layup, and Julia Hirt hit a high-arcing 3-pointer from the corner. Maren McCallister made a runner in the lane and CUAA led 58-39 after the third quarter.

Abby Long had a pair of layups and a 3-pointer to maintain the team's lead. Izzy Hadley drove for a layup in the final minutes as the Cardinals subbed in extra players. CUAA claimed the 67-51 win as time expired.

 

Concordia will remain at home this Saturday to host Cornerstone at 1pm.
