Women's Basketball falls versus #6 Marian

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia Women's Basketball returned home after Christmas to host #6 Marian in a key non-conference game. The Cardinals kept the contest close early, but the Knights pulled away to hand the team a 76-37 loss.

Abby Long led the team with 16 points. Maren McCallister came in second with 6 points. Alexx Braddock had a team-high 5 rebounds.

Alexx Braddock made a layup for Concordia's first basket. Abby Long paced the offense early with a pair of triples and a jumpshot. CUAA trailed 15-10 after the first quarter.

Marian started the second quarter on a 9-0 run until Abby Long ended the run with a layup. Julia Hirt and Long added free throws, but the Knights continued to extend their lead. Alexx Braddock drove to the hoop and Maren McCallister hit a jumpshot, but CUAA trailed 38-19 at halftime.

Ellery Baker drained a free throw early in the third quarter. Taylor Leatherman finished off an "and-1" and Abby Long drilled a 3-pointer. Maren McCallister converted a pair of free throws and CUAA trailed 64-29 after the third quarter.

Maren McCallister hit a midrange jumper early in the fourth quarter. Braylynn Haines drained a pair of free throws and Izzy Hadley made four free throws down the stretch. The Cardinals were able to empty their bench to spread key playing time around late in the game. CUAA fell by a final score of 76-37.

Concordia will return to WHAC play at Madonna this Wednesday at 5:30pm.
