Women's Soccer falls to #1 Spring Arbor at home

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Concordia Women's Soccer team hosted the top ranked team in the NAIA on Wednesday evening when the Spring Arbor Cougars came to town. The Cardinals kept things close in the first half, only down a goal going into halftime. Spring Arbor came out strong in the second half, scoring a trio of goals to win 4-0.

Both teams had a balanced attack in the beginning of the first half with Hayley Jacobson coming up with a pair of saves to keep things square. Spring Arbor drew first blood when Lauren Marshall scored off of a pass from Annika Arsenault. The Cardinals nearly found the back of the net with six minutes remaining in the first half when Andrea Foster's header hit the crossbar off of a Cardinal corner.

The Cougars opened up the second half with a goal within the first minute of action, when Lauren Marshall found Kaylee Beekel for the score. The Cardinals followed that with a steady attack getting looks on goal off of corners and throw ins, but were unable to capitalize. Lauren Marshall added on another assist on the night when she crossed the ball to Annika Arsenault for the Cougars' third goal. Shelby Marshall added on the final goal for Spring Arbor with six minutes left to play.

The Cardinals will be back in action this Saturday, when they travel down to Purdue Northwest for a 5:00 PM kickoff.
