Women's Soccer comes up short in defensive battle against St. Francis (IN)

(Ann Arbor, MI) Concordia Women's Soccer hosted St. Francis (IN) Wednesday afternoon for an out of conference matchup. Concordia's Hayley Jacobson and St. Francis' Amber Morgan had 9 and 10 saves respectively in the defensive showdown, but it was Carlee Biddle who was the difference in the match, scoring the lone goal for the 1-0 Cougar victory.

The Cougars opened the game on the attack, forcing a pair of saves from Hayley Jacobson early on. They were able to break through about ten minutes into the game when Carlee Biddle put in a rebound off of the far post to break the scoreless draw. The Cardinal attack was close to evening things towards the end of the first half when Alyssa Pringle and Kendra Lewis put some pressure on the Cougar defense and keeper, but were ultimately denied.

Both teams continued to get looks on goal in the start of the second half, but could not get it past the senior goalkeepers on both sides. Morgan and Jacobson continued to be tough to beat for the remainder of the game, letting nothing past the pair of them. Danielle Bracken had one of the better chances for the Cardinals with two minutes remaining when she fired a shot off of the chest of Morgan and then another one which was saved by the Cougar keeper to preserve the 1-0 win.

Next up for the Cardinals will be conference play on September 23rd.  The Cardinals will travel to seventh ranked nationally Aquinas for a noon kickoff in Grand Rapids.
