Women's soccer plays Indiana Tech to a scoreless draw

(Ann Arbor, MI) Concordia Women's Soccer took to the pitch for their first home conference match of the season when they hosted Indiana Tech Wednesday afternoon. Despite both teams' best offensive efforts, the game would conclude as a scoreless draw.

Hayley Jacobson and the Warrior keeper both ended the day with 7 saves. Danielle Bracken and Katelyn Aiello had three shots each to lead the Cardinal attack.

The Warrior attack got a few looks early, with one ball bouncing, ultimately harmlessly, past everyone in the six-yard box. The Cardinals best two chances came in quick succession with Alyssa Pringle first cutting inside, but getting a shot deflected, and then nearly getting past the keeper who came outside of the box to stop her. Later, Danielle Bracken got a shot off with her left that forced a diving save from the Warrior keeper to keep things scoreless.

The Warriors' Abbie Hulme put a header on frame less than two minutes into the second half, which was saved by a diving Hayley Jacobson. The sides to continued to go back and forth, with the Cardinals getting another good look with Alyssa Pringle forcing Indiana Tech's keeper to make a sliding tackle outside of the box to keep it at 0-0. With just over two minutes remaining, Katelyn Aiello nearly scored off of a free kick from 30 yards if it weren't for the keeper just poking it over the bar. At first it looked like the Cardinals scored off of the rebound, but it was deemed that the rebound came off of the field goal upright and not the cross bar. The ensuing corner kick was headed wide left by Kamryn Gerecke. Katelyn Aiello had one last chance with a free kick with a minute remaining, but it was saved to cement the scoreless draw.

Next up for the Cardinals will be another home match on Saturday, September 30th. Kick off against Siena Heights will be at 3:00 PM at Cardinal Stadium.
