Women's Soccer shuts out Lourdes in scoreless draw

(Ann Arbor, MI) Concordia Women's Soccer hosted Lourdes Wednesday afternoon for a WHAC match. The Cardinal defense, led by Hayley Jacobson and her 9 saves, was able to keep a clean sheet for their third shutout of the season, but the Cardinals were unable to find the back of the net, resulting in a scoreless draw.

 

The Gray Wolves brought pressure offensively to begin the game, but were unable to beat Hayley Jacobson. The Cardinals' best look early on was an Andrea Foster corner kick that was swinging towards the goal and forced the Lourdes keeper to knock it away. The Gray Wolves had an onslaught or corner kicks and free kicks towards the end of the first half, but Jacobson and the Concordia defense held Lourdes at bay to keep it scoreless going into halftime.

 

Kendra Lewis had a shot go just over the crossbar for Concordia from distance to open up their attacking efforts in the second half. Hayley Jacobson was forced to come off her line on several occasions and would not be beaten, keeping the game scoreless. The Gray Wolves were shown a red card with 90 seconds remaining, but the Cardinals were unable to

 

The Cardinals will be on the road next when they travel to Rochester on Saturday, October 21st. They're set for a 7:00 PM kickoff at the Michigan Stars Sport Center in Washington, Michigan.
