(Southfield, MI) - Concordia volleyball traveled to Lawrence Tech on Friday evening for a WHAC match. The Cardinals kept the first set close but fell in three sets.
Breann June led the team with eight kills. Emma Leinberger had a team-high of 14 assists. Emiline Wood led the backend with 13 digs.
SET ONE: LTU 25, CUAA 21
Jacey Powell started a 3-0 run with a kill. Emma Leinberger added two aces to finish the run and both Powell and Leinberger chipped in early kills. The Cardinals held onto a 15-12 lead with a block by Megan Neumann and Jacey Powell. However, LTU mounted a comeback down the stretch and took set one.
SET TWO: LTU 25, CUAA 14
Megan Neumann notched the first kill in set two. Claudia Grepke and Breann June added kills as the Cardinals looked to stay alive in the set. Jillian Kendrick and Jessalyn Peavyhouse teamed up for a block late in the set, but LTU took set two.
SET THREE: LTU 25, CUAA 17
Breann June made two aces as part of a 5-1 run to start set three. Claudia Grepke and Jillian Kendrick added kills as the teams battled to a 10-10 tie. LTU began to rally and take the lead, but the Cardinals made a late run with Jillian Kendrick and Jessalyn Peavyhouse making another combined block. However, LTU was able to finish the set and claim the win.
Concordia will travel to Rochester Christian tomorrow, Saturday September 21st, at 2pm.
