Volleyball downed against Lawrence Tech

(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia volleyball stayed at home on Saturday afternoon and hosted Lawrence Tech.  The Blue Devils eventually came away with a sweep on the day.

 

Claudia Grepke and Jacey Powell tied for the team lead with eight kills each.  Emma Leinberger and Jillian Kendrick tied for a team high of 11 assists.  Emiline Wood led the back end with 25 digs. Merin Merkle had a team-best four blocks.

 

SET ONE: LTU 25, CUAA 17

Courtney Kalahar opened the game with a kill.  Merin Merkle combined with both Claudia Grepke and Jessalyn Peavyhouse for blocks early on.  Grepke and Peavyhouse both contributed kills to the offense but Lawrence Tech took set one.

 

SET TWO: LTU 25, CUAA 21

Megan Neumann ended a 6-0 LTU run with a kill.  Jessalyn Peavyhouse made four kills midway through the set while Emiline Wood added two aces.  Jacey Powell chipped in three kills and Emma Leinberger made a kill to tie the set 17-17.  However, LTU was able to pull away to take set two.

 

SET THREE: LTU 25, CUAA 14

Megan Neumann opened set three with a kill.  Jessalyn Peavyhouse teamed up with Merin Merkle for an early block and added a kill.  Jacey Powell made two late kills, but Lawrence Tech was able to take set three to close the game.

 

Concordia will travel to Defiance College this Wednesday, October 30th, for a contest at 7pm.
