Volleyball earns home sweep over Lourdes
 
 

(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia volleyball hosted Lourdes on Saturday afternoon to continue WHAC play.  The Cardinals turned in a solid effort and earned a win in straight sets. 

 

Breann June led the team with 16 kills and 15 digs.  Jillian Kendrick had a team high 18 assists.  Merin Merkle had a team-best 4 blocks.   

 

SET ONE: CUAA 25, LU 21 

Megan Neumann opened the game with a kill.  Claudia Grepke and Jessalyn Peavyhouse paced the offense early as the Cardinals pulled ahead with a 6-0 run.  Emiline Wood recorded an ace and Breann June had a stretch of three straight kills.  Jacey Powell combined with Megan Neumann for a block and Merin Merkle notched the winning kill.  

 

SET TWO: CUAA 25, LU 22 

Breann June had the first kill in set two.  Claudia Grepke made two early kills and both Jillian Kendrick and Joy Pryor had two aces apiece down the stretch Jessalyn Peavyhouse teamed up with Merin Merkle for two blocks in the set.  Breann June finished the set with a kill. 

 

SET THREE: CUAA 25, LU 12 

Megan Neumann had the first Cardinal kill in set three.  Maggie Pritts, Jillian Kendrick and Joy Pryor all recorded early aces as the team pulled ahead.  Breann June notched back-to-back aces and Claudia Grepke combined with Merin Merkle for a block.  CUAA made short work of set three to clinch the sweep. 

 

Concordia will travel to Cornerstone this Friday, October 18th, for a 7pm contest.
