(Dearborn, MI) - Concordia volleyball traveled to UM Dearborn on Monday night to compete in a play-in game for the WHAC Tournament. The Cardinals played hard but fell in straight sets.
Breann June and Claudia Grepke tied for the team lead with seven kills each. Jillian Kendrick had a team high 10 assists. Emiline Wood led the backend with 14 digs. Jessalyn Peavyhouse had a team-best four blocks.
SET ONE: UMD 25, CUAA 14
Emma Leinberger recorded the first Cardinal kill. Jessalyn Peavyhouse made an early kill and combined with both Merin Merkle and Claudia Grepke for blocks. However, UM Dearborn took set one.
SET TWO: UMD 25, CUAA 21
Megan Neumann made the first CUAA kill in set two. Claudia Grepke and Breann June each added two early kills with Jessalyn Peavyhouse making a solo block. Peavyhouse added a block later in the set and a kill from Breann June put the Cardinals down just 23-21. However, UM Dearborn took the next two points to finish set two.
SET THREE: UMD 25, CUAA 20
Jessalyn Peavyhouse had the first Cardinal kill in set three. Claudia Grepke made two early kills along with a solo block. After trailing 22-10, CUAA came out on fire after a timeout with a 10-2 run. Jillian Kendrick notched two aces during the run and Breann June made two late kills. However, UM Dearborn was able to take set three to close out the game.
