Men's Bowling falls in Semifinal match at Midwest Collegiate Championships

(Jackson, MI) - The Concordia Cardinal's Men's Bowling team took on their second challenge of the season as they headed to the Midwest Collegiate Championships in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. The Cardinals finished the tournament's first round in sixth place of the 46 teams at the event. 

 

The second day, which consisted of 16 baker games, saw the Cardinals hit a total of 3570 total pins, which was the most pins out of the rest of the field during the baker games, to finish the second round of the tournament in third place. 

 

The final round saw the top-8 teams compete in bracket form with rounds being best two out of three. The Cards would take on Mount Mercy in the first round winning 2-1. The semifinal matchup saw them go up against St. Ambrose before falling 2-1. 

 

CARDINALS RESULTS

The top Cardinal finisher was Jeffrey Lizewski who would knock down 1275 pins as he averaged 212.5 pins throughout the six games. He finished in a tie for 21st place. Only eight pins behind him was Dylan Jablonksi with 1267 pins and in 26th place. These two Cardinals would be the only two to bowl all six games. 

 

Connor Rogus and David Schaberg each would bowl five games for the Cardinals as Rogus hit 1121 pins and averaged 224.2 pins, while Schaberg averaged 215.6 pins with 1078 total pins. Rogus would bowl the best individual game for the Cardinals with a 268 in his fifth game. 

 

Three other Cardinals would combine for the final eight games with Alexander Bumpus (4 games), Patrick Good Jr. (3), and Conner Lackey (1) bowling for CUAA. They would bowl games of 749, 525, and 197 respectively. 

 

TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL WINNER

The team the Cardinals would fall to in the semifinal round, St Ambrose, would take home the team title as they would upend Saint Xavier 2-1 in the final match. 

 

Michael Harmon from Saint Xavier would take the top spot in the individual games as he would hit a total of 1403 pins. 

 

UP NEXT

The Cardinals will return on the lanes next weekend when they travel to the C300 Western Shootout at the Western Bowl in Indianapolis, Indiana.
