Saints cruise past Cardinals 95-52

(Adrian, MI) – Concordia women's basketball traveled to rival Siena Heights on Saturday afternoon.  The Cardinals came in 10-6 overall (4-3 WHAC) while the Saints entered 10-4 overall (7-3 WHAC).  CUAA kept battling throughout the game, but Siena Heights pulled away early and secured a 95-52 win.

 

Katie Snow led Concordia with 13 points and 7 rebounds.  Samantha Dorn finished second with 8 points, going 2-4 from behind the arc.  Alize Tripp was third with 7 points.

 

Alize Tripp made a layup to end a 5-0 Siena Heights run.  Tris'styn Williams scored in the paint early on, but the Saints jumped out to a 13-4 lead.  Alize Tripp converted an old-fashioned three-point play off a runner and CUAA trailed 15-7 after the 1st.

 

Taylor Leatherman had a layup for Concordia's first 2nd-quarter basket.  Stephanie Abraham scored in the paint and Leatherman added another spinning post basket.  Samantha Dorn drilled a 3-pointer, but Siena Heights held a 41-19 lead at halftime.

 

After the Concordia defense forced a shot clock violation to start the 3rd, J'may Simmons made a layup.  Katie Snow converted an old-fashioned three-point play and Samantha Dorn knocked down a triple and two free throws.  Averi Bebble and Katie Snow continued to drive for layups to pace the offense, but CUAA trailed 71-40 after the 3rd.

 

Katie Snow scored 6 seconds into the 4th to open scoring.  J'may Simmons scored inside and both Snow and Paige Johnson nailed triples.  Katherine Schultz was able to drain two free throws late in the game, but Siena Heights secured the 95-52 win as time expired.

 

Concordia will play again tomorrow when they host UNOH at 1:00pm.
