(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia women's basketball completed their weekend by hosting UNOH on Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals entered 10-7 overall (4-4 WHAC) while the Racers came into the game 5-9 (2-9 WHAC). The first half was closely contested, but a dominant second half lifted CUAA to a 59-41 win.
Katie Snow led Concordia with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Tris'styn Williams finished with 7 points in a balanced scoring attack.
Averi Bebble hit a 3-pointer to open the game, beginning a 9-0 CUAA opening run. Tris'styn Williams capped off the run with an old-fashioned three-point play and a layup. Katie Snow and J'may Simmons drove for layups and Stephanie Abraham knocked down a 3-pointer coming off the bench. CUAA held a 19-8 lead after the first.
UNOH started the second half on a 10-0 run to close within a point. Taylor Leatherman ended the run with layups and Katie Snow also drove to the basket and added 2 free throws. The Racers kept battling, tying the game 25-25 with 2:31 to play, but the Cardinals answered with triples from Paige Johnson and Katie Snow. CUAA led 32-25 at halftime.
UNOH took their first lead with 8 unanswered points to open the third. A 3-pointer from Averi Bebble began a dominant 20-0 run which saw the Cardinals hold the Racers scoreless for the remaining 7:12 of the quarter. Allyson Hunt drove for a layup and triples fell from Katie Snow and J'may Simmons. CUAA held a commanding 47-33 lead after the third.
Tris'styn Williams scored on an offensive putback to start the fourth. Katie Snow and Stephanie Abraham knocked down 3-pointers, making it a 23-0 CUAA run going back to the 4:58 mark of the third quarter. Katherine Schultz checked into the game and knocked down a runner to extend the lead. Izzy Viau made a late layup and the Cardinals took home the 59-41 victory.
Concordia will quickly return to action as they have a make-up game tomorrow against Lourdes University. The Cardinals will travel to Lourdes on Monday for a 4pm tipoff and then host Lourdes on Tuesday evening for the regular season finale.
