Snow, Simmons, and Tripp lead Cardinals with WHAC honors

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference announced their 2020-21 women's basketball awards Monday afternoon with several Cardinals being honored for their success on and off the court. Katie Snow, J'may Simmons, and Alize Tripp highlighted the Cardinals' accolades. Snow was named Second Team All-Conference and All-Defense, Simmons was given Second Team All-Conference, and Tripp was named to the All-Freshman Team.

 

Snow has been named to an All-Conference Team in each of her four years as a Cardinal, earning First Team her Junior and Sophomore seasons and being placed on the WHAC All-Freshman team following her first season. Snow led the Cardinals in many statistical categories and was among the conference leaders in points (14.9), assists (2.4), and steals (2.8). Snow was also named to the WHAC All-Defensive Team. The senior led the conference and was 29th in the NAIA with 2.8 steals per game.

 

The WHAC selected J'may Simmons as a part of the Second Team. Simmons led the team and was 12th in the conference in rebounds per game with 6.6. The senior forward was second on the team in scoring, averaging 10.5 per game. Simmons had a career game against Lourdes on February 22nd when she scored 20 points in the Cardinal win.

 

Alize Tripp made many contributions as a first year Cardinal. The freshman standout appeared in all but one game for Concordia. Tripp was one of the top scoring freshmen in the WHAC, averaging 7.0 points per game. The guard completed her freshman stat line with 2.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 0.8 steals per game.

 

Six different Cardinals were named to the WHAC All-Academic Team for their work in the classroom and maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.25. Stephanie Abraham, Averi Bebble, Paige Johnson, Aly Lenz, J'may Simmons, and Tris'styn Williams were all named to the WHAC All-Academic Team.

 

Paige Johnson was also recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The junior was honored for her commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
