(Melbourne, FL) - The Concordia Cardinals headed south to Florida for the first set of games on their spring break trip taking on the Washington Adventist Shock (3-9 overall) and the Culver-Stockton Wildcats (5-12 overall) in their first of 14 games that they will play over the next eight days.

GAME 1 - CONCORDIA 11, WASHINGTON ADVENTIST 6 - 6 INNINGS

The Cardinals took flight right away in the first inning with back-to-back singles from Payton Lewis and Koryn Playford. The Cardinals would take 3-0 lead with a Shannon McAlinden triple followed by Katie Tobias' sacrifice fly.

Scoring once again in the second inning would be the Cardinals with Lewis singling to centerfield as Sarah Tyrell came across the plate. The Shocks would take a run back in the bottom half of the inning off of a double.

Jada Stephenson would round the bases in the third inning netting a triple while also scoring on the same play due to an error. The bats would quiet until the fifth inning when Katie Tobias singled in McAlinden.

The nail in the coffin would come from the Cardinals in the sixth though crossing the plate five times. Playford and McAlinden both walked to score runs, while Tobias was hit by a pitch. Elyse Brittain would hit a sacrifice fly, while the final run would come off the bat of Stephenson with a single.

Two Cardinal pitchers combined for the six innings as Kiley Weiderman went five innings allowing eight hits and one run with two strikeouts. Cassidy Kane pitched the final inning, not allowing a hit and striking out one batter.
