Softball earns sweep of Lourdes

(Sylvania, OH) – Concordia softball traveled to Lourdes on Saturday afternoon for a WHAC doubleheader.  The Cardinals claimed two victories on the day to pick up the sweep. 

 

Game 1 – CUAA 6, LU 1 

Paige Anderson pitched a complete game with 3 strikeouts.  In the 1st, Dee Campbell used an RBI groundout to score Payton LewisKatie Tobias added an RBI single driving in Shannon McAlinden. 

In the 3rd, Koryn Playford had an RBI double to drive in Payton LewisDee Campbell used a sacrifice bunt to score Playford and Maddy Grueter later chipped in a 2-RBI double. 

Lourdes broke the shutout in the 6th, but the Cardinals secured the win with their third defensive double play in the 7th. 

 

Game 2 – CUAA 4, LU 0 

Elyse Brittain threw a complete game with 3 strikeouts.  In the 1st, Katie Tobias opened scoring with an RBI single to drive in Shannon McAlindenDee Campbell and Tobias both reached home on errors to put the Cardinals up 3-0. 

In the 4th, Shannon McAlinden drew a bases-loaded walk to force home Megan Martin. 

Elyse Brittain continued to hold Lourdes in check, stranding 2 runners in the 7th to clinch the sweep. 

 

Concordia will play a doubleheader at Cleary tomorrow starting at 11am.
