Softball earns WHAC sweep over Cleary
 
 

(Howell, MI) – Concordia softball traveled to Cleary for a doubleheader on Wednesday night.  The Cardinals kept rolling with two more victories on the night. 

 

Game 1 – CUAA 2, CU 0 

Paige Anderson pitched a complete game with 3 strikeouts.  The Cardinals scored in the 1st when Payton Lewis led off with a double and scored on an RBI single from Koryn Playford. 

The game settled into a pitchers' duel with Concordia maintaining their lead.  In the 7th, Shannon McAlinden hit an RBI single to drive in Payton LewisPaige Anderson finished off the bottom half to secure the win. 

 

Game 2 – CUAA 5, CU 4 

Elyse Brittain started game 2, going 5.1 innings with a strikeout.  In the 1st, Brittain helped her own cause with an RBI single to score Shannon McAlinden.  Cleary tied the game in the bottom half. 

In the 3rd, Elyse Brittain added another RBI single driving in Lauren MartinDee Campbell chipped in an RBI double to score Brooklin Cox and Shannon McAlinden. 

In the 6th, Payton Lewis hit an RBI single to score Madison Poe.  Cleary trimmed the lead to 5-4 in the bottom half. 

Kendall Kahl came in to finish the last 1.1 innings, allowing no baserunners to clinch the sweep. 

 

Concordia will return home to host Indiana Tech tomorrow starting at 2:30pm.
