Softball takes two more games in Florida
 
 

(Brevard County, FL) – Concordia softball continued their spring break with games against Indiana South Bend and Clarke.  The Cardinals downed Indiana South Bend and Clarke to add two more victories. 

 

Game 1 – CUAA 3, IUSB 2 (8 innings) 

Paige Anderson pitched a complete game with 3 strikeouts.  The game started as a pitchers' duel, staying scoreless through 4 innings. 

IUSB plated 2 runs in the 5th to break the tie.  The Cardinals answered in the bottom half when Katie Tobias hit a 2-RBI single to score Payton Lewis and Maddy Grueter. 

The game went to extra innings with a courtesy runner starting at second base.  In the 8th, Katie Tobias came up big again with an RBI single to drive in Koryn Playford for the win. 

 

Game 2 – CUAA 5, Clarke 4 

Cassidy Kane started game 2, making 5 strikeouts in 5 innings.  In the 1st, Shannon McAlinden opened scoring with an RBI single driving in Payton LewisKatie Tobias and McAlinden both scored on a massive error for a 3-0 lead. 

Clarke scored a run in the 1st and 2nd.  In the 4th, Payton Lewis hit a 2-RBI single to score Morgan Scott and Maddy Grueter. 

Elyse Brittain came in to pitch in the 6th.  Clarke plated 2 runs to trim the lead to 5-4, but Brittain finished them off in the 7th to clinch the game. 

 

Concordia will play again tomorrow at 2pm vs William Penn and at 7pm vs Ave Maria.
