SEASON PREVIEW: WOMEN'S BOWLING

The Concordia Cardinals Women's Bowling team will begin their season with the Dirty Bird Classic on September 23rd which is a home tournament at Jax 60 in Jackson, MI.

The team is coached by Program Coach Doug Spicer in his 12th season, Rob Lancioni, Julie Huren, and Makayla Lancioni.

Returning Players

The team has 9 returners and 9 freshmen. The seniors are Amanda Fisher, Emily Morris, and Gabriella VanHorn. Emilee Hughes and Arielle Oakley are juniors. Sophomores are Brooke Binder, Ashley Kreger, Kyla Peterson, and Bailey Tomlin. The Freshmen are Ryan Giese, MacKenzie Morgan, Carly Pavka, Megan Redman, Emily Rodman, Jenna Rohloff, J'leigh Saunders, Sydney Stocks, and Bailey VanMeter.

Gabriella VanHorn is the top returner. Last year she averaged 190.04 over 15 matches. VanHorn was named Bowler of the Year and named to All Conference First Team. Brooke Binder averaged 186.83 over 9 matches. Emilee Hughes averaged 181.21 over 15 matches. She was named to Second Team All-Conference. Kara Ward was the team's WHAC Champion of Character.

Team Highlight

Last year the Cardinals placed in the top five multiple times. Their best score was 7,936 at the Glenn Carlson Invitational. Their best average was 194.4 at the American Heartland Tournament.

VanHorn would set the four-game series record for the program after bowling an 869 series at the American Heartland Classic last October.

2023-23 Schedule

After opening with the Dirty Bird Classic, the Cardinals will travel to the Midwest Collegiate Championships on October 7th and 8th. The following weekend they will be at the C300 Western Shootout in Indianapolis. Followed by the American Heartland in Canton on the 29th.

In November the Cardinals have WHAC Jamboree on the 3rd and 4th and the NAIA Invite on the 18th and 19th.

In December on the 9th there will be another WHAC Jamboree hosted by Concordia. On the 18th and 19th they will be at the Glenn Carlson Invitational in Las Vegas. Quickly followed by the Collegiate Shoot Out on the 20th and 21st.

January will have the Kegal Collegiate Classic on the 13th and 14th.

February will have the final WHAC Jamboree on the 3rd. The Cardinals will conclude their season at the Hoosier Classic on the 10th and 11th.
