Women's Bowling finishes 13th at the Kegel Collegiate Classic to open 2024

(Addison, IL) - The Concordia Cardinal Women's Bowling team opened 2024 at the Kegel Collegiate Classic in Illinois over the weekend. The Cardinals finished the tournament in 13th place after knocking down 7,634 pins. 

 

The Cardinals finished the first day of the tournament in 9th after scoring 4,327 throughout the five team games. 

 

In addition to the team games, the event featured 20 baker games on the second day of the tournament. 

 

CARDINALS RESULTS

Brooke Binder took the top CUAA spot after placing third overall for the tournament, just 51 points behind first place, after knocking down 1,013 total pins while scoring a high game of 235. Next up for the Cards was Megan Redmond as she recorded a high game of 234 on her way to a 939 total score. Emilee Hughes and Gabriella VanHorn were the final two bowlers to bowl in all five games as they finished with scores of 853 and 807 and high games of 189 and 188 respectively. 

 

Three bowlers combined for the final five games as Arielle Oakley and Amanda Fisher each bowled two games averaging 170.6 and 154 respectively. Kyla Peterson was the final CUAA bowler with a score of 131. 

 

ENTERING THE RECORD BOOKS

Binder enters the 5-game series records with the 8th-highest score of 1,013. 

 

TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL WINNER

Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) took home the team title for the Women's event with a total final score of 8,503.

 

SCAD's Grace Bringham won the individual title after scoring 1,064 pins. 

 

UP NEXT

The Cardinals will be back in action on February 3, when they travel to Allen Park, Michigan for the final WHAC Jamboree of the year.
