(Joilet, IL) - The Concordia Cardinals Women's Bowling team continued their season at the NAIA Invitational in Joliet, Illinois on Saturday and Sunday. The team finished in the tournament in eighth-place after knocking down a total of 7,875 total pins before the bracket play began. The Cardinals would fall in their first bracket game to Pikeville.
The tournament consisted of 5 team games followed by 20 baker games. The top eight teams from that would advance to a bracket format where they would play best-of-5 game series until a champion was decided.
CARDINALS RESULTS
Taking home the top spot for the Cardinals was Brooke Binder who placed 12th overall at the tournament after knocking down a total of 958 pins for the tournament and scoring a high game of 217. In 17th place was Gabriella VanHorn who scored a total of 930 pins and recorded a high game of 202. Finishing four pins apart were Amanda Fisher and Emilee Hughes who totaled 896 and 892 pins respectively, while scoring high games of 202 and 205 respectively.
Bowling in two games for the Cardinals was Megan Redmond who averaged a 171.5 and recorded a high score of 195. The final two bowlers were Kyla Peterson and Ryan Giese who bowled two games and one game respectively. Peterson averaged a 162.5 with a 193 high game, while Giese bowled a 147 in her sole game.

The JV team finished the JV portion of the tournament in third place after hitting a total of 7,236 pins.

BRACKET PLAY
Concordia would face off against top-seed Pikeville in the first round and would fall in four games after bowling games of 179, 173, 162, and 170 respectively.
TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL WINNER
Saint Xavier (IL) took home the championship after upending William Penn in the final series of bracket play by a score of 3-1.
Kelsey Cummings from Pikeville took home the individual championship after finishing the tournament with a total score of 1,186 throughout the five-game series.
UP NEXT
The Cardinals will see a few weeks off as they will next compete at the third WHAC Jamboree of the season that will take place at the Jax 660 in Jackson, Michigan on November 9.
