Women's Bowling finishes in 11th place at the Glenn Carlson Invitational

(Las Vegas, NV) - The Concordia Cardinals Women's Bowling team headed west to compete at the Glenn Carlson Invitational at the South Pointe Hotel & Bowling Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event featured nine team games with the top-8 teams advancing to Baker Match Play tournament. 

 

The first day of the tournament featured the Cardinals bowling the first six team games. The team finished in 11th place with three more team games left to play. The team hit a total of 5,391 pins.

 

The final day saw the teams compete to make it into the bracket play, but would ultimately fall short as they would hit 8,118 total pins. They missed out on the bracket-play by 274 pins. 

 

CARDINALS RESULTS

The Cardinals would have eight bowlers go for them over the two days as they were led by Emilee Hughes and Gabriella VanHorn who finished in 31st and 34th place overall. Hughes would hit a total of 1,686 total pins, with a high game of 224, while VanHorn knocked down 1,666 pins over the nine games as she scored a high game of 236. 

 

Ryan Giese and Amanda Fisher bowled seven games each for the Cardinals as Giese averaged 190.57 pins for the tournament and recorded a high game of 210 and Fisher averaged a 165.29 and scored a high game of 214. Megan Redmond would bowl in five games for the Cardinals and averaged a 183.6 and scored a high game of 207. Brooke Binder bowled in five games and averaged 171 pins per game with a high game of 213. 

 

The final two bowlers were Kyla Peterson and Arielle Oakley who each bowled in two games. Peterson averaged a 174.5 and had a high game of 193. And Oakley averaged a 162, with a high game of 182. 

 

TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL WINNER

Mary Orf from Wichita State University took home the individual title by narrowly earning first place with a score of 1,992, which overtook second place by one pin. 

 

Wichita State also earned the team title after putting up wins against Davenport, St. Francis (IL), and Ottawa (KS). on their way to the title. 

 

UP NEXT

The Cardinals stay in Las Vegas as they will compete at the Collegiate Shootout today and tomorrow before heading back to prepare for the new year.
