(Sterling Heights, MI) - The second day of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championships finished up Friday afternoon for the Concordia Cardinal's Women's Bowling team as their run at a National title fell short.
After picking up a win against Ottawa on Thursday, the Cardinals fell in back-to-back matches to SCAD and Spring Arbor to close out their season.
BRACKET PLAY
The Cardinal's first matchup of the day was against top-seeded SCAD-Savannah. The Cardinals fell in the first two matchups 207-162 and 203-173 respectively. Game 3 saw CUAA pick up 4 strikes in the final three frames to claim a 202-185 win to make it 2-1. SCAD would ultimately advance to the next round after winning the next two games.
The first match of the second-chance bracket saw the Cardinals face off against the Spring Arbor Cougars. CUAA took the first game by a narrow margin, winning 176-174, before SAU took the next three matches. As the Cardinals were faced with elimination, they picked up another close win 188-186. CUAA's title odds fell after dropping the final game.
