Women's Indoor Track & Field starts 2024 off strong

(Saginaw, MI) - The Women's Track and Field team resumed their season at Saginaw Valley State University for the SVSU Classic on Friday, January 12. The team came away with 8 personal records, 2 NCCAA qualifiers, 1 school record, and 7 new collegiate marks.

Jayde Ullenbruch added another event to her list of NCCAA qualification marks. She finished sixth in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.02 meters. The jump for Ullenbruch not only earned her a personal record and qualifying mark but also broke the school record. Ullenbruch also earned a new personal record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.41 seconds.

Lena Korte (Junior; Clinton, MI) continued her strong indoor season by winning the shot put, with a distance of 13.48 meters.

Jeyda Brown (Freshman; Ann Arbor, MI) earned a personal record in the 60-meter dash with an 8.29 second time. The overall time has Brown as the third fastest time in school history.

Lily Kueber (Senior; Northville, MI) earned an NCCAA qualifying effort in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.15 meters. Her performance also earned her a new personal record.

The team had more personal records as Hailey Stausikinas (Junior; Wyoming, MI) earned one in the shot put with a throw of 8.89 meters. In other throwing events, Maya Freeman earned a personal best throw in weight throw with a distance of 12.18 meters.

For the distance group, Alison Doerr (Sophomore; Grand Haven, MI) ran a personal best time in the 800-meter dash with a finishing time of 3:05. Amanda Fogo (Sophomore; Fowlerville, MI) competed in the 3000-meter run and ran her personal best time of 12:45.

The team also had multiple Cardinals make their collegiate debut in events. Madelyn Ankoviak (Junior; Sanford, MI) made her debut in the shot put with a distance of 8.68 meters. Michaela Kurth (Freshman; Ypsilanti, MI), Macee Ripke (Freshman; Napoleon, OH), and Grace Finley (Freshman; Monroe, MI) made their collegiate debut in the Mile. They finished with times of 6:01, 6:25, and 6:29. Kurth along with Elissa Hines (Freshman; Ypsilanti, MI) made their debut in the 800-meter dash. Kurth finished in 2:40 and Hines crossed the line in 2:53. Rachael Byers (Freshman; Plymouth, MI) wrapped up the distance events by making her debut in the 3000 meters and finished in a time of 12:57.

The team will be back in action on Friday, January 19 at the Doug Hansen Open hosted by Saginaw Valley State University.
