Women's Bowling falls to Spring Arbor in Championship Match at the Dirty Bird Classic

(Ann Arbor, MI) - On Saturday, the Concordia Cardinals Women's Bowling team opened up their 2024-25 season at the second annual Dirty Bird Classic in Jackson, Michigan at the Jax 60. The event featured 3 team games and 10 baker games to determine bracket play. The bracket then would see the top two teams advance on a bye to the semifinal. 

 

The Cardinals qualified second after scoring 4,374 pins and missing out on first place by 69 pins. CUAA registered second-place points for the USBC power rankings. 

 

In the semifinal, CUAA faced off with Trine and took home a 2-1 win with scores of 209-181 (CUAA), 183-135 (Trine), and 235 (CUAA). The Championship paired them up against Spring Arbor, ultimately falling 3-1. The scores in the championship match were 203-191 (SAU), 268-158 (CUAA), 243-201 (SAU), and 226-180 (SAU).

 

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

Amanda Fisher was the top bowler for CUAA in the team games as she hit 529 pins and finished in 13th place. Ryan Giese was next up for the Cards with a score of 522 and Brooke Binder was not far behind with a score of 510. Bailey VanMeter was the final Card to bowl all three games as she scored 469.

 

Emily Morris and MacKenzie Morgan split the final three team games as Morris scored a 345 in two games and Morgan recorded a 146 in her sole game.

The Cards are back in action next Saturday at the first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match of the season, which will be held at the Jax 60 in Jackson, Michigan.
