Emilee Hughes takes home WHAC Bowler of the Year to headline Women's Bowling Honors

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic-Conference (WHAC) announced their yearly awards for Women's Bowling on Wednesday afternoon and several Concordia Cardinals earned postseason honors. 

 

Highlighting the awards was Emilee Hughes who earned WHAC Bowler of the Year. Hughes is the third Cardinal to win this honor as she follows Jessica Pate and Gabriella VanHorn who earned their honors in 2017-18 and 2022-23 respectively. Another highlight in the honors are head coaches Makayla Lancioni and Korey Reichard who were named Co-WHAC Coaches of the Year which is the first time this has happened in program history. 

 

FIRST TEAM | BOWLER OF THE YEAR

Emilee Hughes | Senior | Auburn Hills, Michigan

Hughes tallied the highest mark throughout the four WHAC Jamboree's as she posted an average of 197.44 pins per game over her nine game bowled. Overall on the season, Hughes has tallied up 7,881 pins with an average of 192.22. 

 

CO-WHAC COACHES OF THE YEAR

Makayla Lancioni & Korey Reichard

Lancioni and Reichard were named WHAC Coaches of the Year as they were able to help the program claim their first regular season title since the 2014-15 season. The Cardinals placed first at the first two WHAC Tournament and followed those up with a pair of second place finishes at the final two. 

 

CHAMPIONS OF CHARACTER

Ryan Giese was recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The sophomore was honored for her commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

 

WHAC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

The WHAC announced their All-Academic teams, which involve being a sophomore in Academic standing and having a cumulative GPA of 3.25. The six Cardinals honored were Amanda Fisher, Ryan Giese, Emilee Hughes, MacKenzie Morgan, Arielle Oakley, and Bailey Van Meter.
