Women's Bowling places second at the Leatherneck Classic

(Rockford, IL) – The Concordia Cardinals Women's Bowling team headed to Illinois for the Leatherneck Classic at the Cherry Bowl. The tournament featured five team games on Saturday followed by 16 baker games and then the top-8 teams facing off in bracket play. 

 

The Cardinals finished the first two parts of the tournament in second place before falling in the first round of bracket play to the eventual champion Saint Xavier by scores of 186-184 and 177-168. 

 

CUAA RESULTS

Bailey VanMeter was the top bowler for the Cardinals with a score of 1004 and a high game of 213. Brooke Binder was not far behind with a score of 996 while recording a high game of 234. Emilee Hughes and Amanda Fisher were the final two bowlers with five games a piece scoring 980 and 945 respectively, their high games were 204 and 232.

 

Arielle Oakley bowled three games with a score of 544 and recorded a high game of 225. The final two bowlers were Ryan Giese and MacKenzie Morgan with scores of 199 and 140 respectively in their only games bowled. 

 

CUAA RECORDS

The Cardinals team series average of 961.6 is the fourth-highest mark in program history. 

 

TOURNAMENT RESULTS

Nada Nawwarah Abdul Jalil from Mount Mercy was the individual winner of the tournament with a total score of 1092. 

 

Saint Xavier University won the bracket play over Mount Mercy with scores of 172-162 and 177-173.

 

UP NEXT

The Cardinals will have a couple of weeks off before competing at the third WHAC Jamboree of the season which will be held at the 5 Star Lanes in Sterling Heights, Michigan on December 7.
