Women's Bowling places 9th at ITC Sectionals

(Smyrna, TN) - The Concordia Cardinals Women's Bowling team headed down to the Intercollegiate Singles and Team Championship (ISC and ITC) Sectionals over the weekend in Smyrna, Tennessee. The event featured the Singles competition with individuals bowling six games each with the top five bowlers making it onto Nationals. The team competition saw 32 baker games bowled on Saturday and 32 on Sunday. 

 

The Cardinals saw solid success as they were able to average 178.42 pins per game throughout the individual contest and saw them place 9th as they averaged 179 pins per game in the team section.

 

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

Brooke Binder was the top finisher for the Cardinals as she ended up in 11th place, only 26 pins out of qualifying for nationals. Binder rounded out the tournament with a total score of 1292 and an average of 215. Ryan Giese was next for the Cardinals with a total score of 1078 and a 179 average. Mackenzie Morgan scored three pins less than Giese with a 1075 and also a 179 average. 

 

Next up was Bailey VanMeter who tallied a score of 1036 and averaged 172 pins a game. The final two bowlers were Sydney Stocks and Arielle Oakley who recorded scores of 1007 and 935 respectively and as they averaged 167 and 155 respectively. 

 

TEAM RESULTS

The first block of games saw the Cardinals in ninth place after scoring 2953 pins throughout 16 baker games. The second set of 16 baker games saw the Cardinals bowl a score of 2808 pins to give them a total of 5761 through the first 32 baker games.

 

The third set of baker games had the Cardinals remain in 10th place after totaling 2739 pins. The fourth and final set saw the Cardinals move up one spot to ninth with 2981 pins in the set and totaled 11481 total pins throughout the 64 baker games.

The Cardinals will compete next at the NAIA Championships for the second straight year at the Five Star Lanes in Sterling Heights, Michigan on March 20-22.
