Women's Bowling competes at the Hoosier Classic

(Indianapolis, IN) – The Concordia Cardinal Women's Bowling headed to Indiana for the Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis this past weekend for the biggest Tier 1 event of the regular season. The event featured five team games on Saturday, followed by 15 baker games with the top-8 making it into bracket play. 

 

The Cardinals finished the first day of the tournament in 28th place after hitting 4,570 pins. Following the baker games on Sunday the Cardinals would move up one spot in the standings to 27th with a score of 7,366 pins.

 

CUAA RESULTS

Mackenzie Morgan was the top CUAA finisher at the tournament with a 64th-place finish after totaling 975 pins and recording a high game of 225. Two other Cardinal bowlers competed in all five team games as Brooke Binder and Arielle Oakley were next up on the CUAA leaderboard. Binder and Oakley finished with 936 and 891 pins respectively as they also scored a 243 and a 189 respectively.

 

The two bowlers who went three games were Bailey VanMeter and Amanda Fisher who totaled 538 and 517 pins and had high games of 191 and 199 respectively. Ryan Giese and Emily Morris were the final two bowlers to compete in the team games with Giese finishing with a 379 score and a 194 high game, while Morris recorded a 334 score and a 183 high game. 

 

INTO THE RECORD BOOKS

The Cardinals team series average of 914.00 is the 9th highest in program history. 

 

TOURNAMENT RESULTS

Savannah College of Art and Design-Savannah took home the top spot heading into bracket play after totaling 8,344 pins. They would advance their way through the bracket to the championship match where they would ultimately fall to Judson in the best-of-5 series, 3-2.

 

Piper Plautz from Calumet College was the top individual bowler for the tournament as she recorded a score of 1,198 throughout the team games.

The Cardinals will compete next weekend at the WHAC Championships at the Jax 60 bowling alley in Jackson, Michigan.
