Women's Lacrosse shuts out Rochester to open WHAC play

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia women's lacrosse began WHAC conference play with their home opener on Saturday afternoon against Rochester. 12 different Cardinals found the back of the net in a dominant 19-0 shutout to bring home the win.

 

Peyton Long played a complete game in goal for Concordia. Isabella Komarowski opened scoring in the game off an assist from Greyson Papp. Megan Soop found the back of the net and Greyson Papp notched a marker for a 3-0 lead. Adrianna Rugiero scored and Alana Mortimer notched back-to-back goals in less than a minute. Madisyn Fox scored off an assist from Rachel Costello and Katelynn Lawson made it an 8-0 lead after the first quarter.

Alana Mortimer completed her hat trick to start the second quarter with Anna Kordyzon drawing the assist. Taylor Armstrong got on the scoresheet with a goal and both Jennifer Miller and Nicole Bordo earned goals as well. Greyson Papp scored her second marker of the game to give CUAA a 13-0 lead at halftime.

 

Adrianna Rugiero recorded her second goal to begin the third quarter. Anna Werth added a powerplay goal late in the quarter for a 15-0 advantage as the clock continued to run.

Taylor Armstrong scored on a free position shot in the fourth quarter and Jennifer Miller added another goal. Nicole Bordo scored her second goal and Taylor Nesbitt slipped in a low shot to conclude scoring in the game. CUAA claimed the 19-0 win as time expired.

 

Concordia will host rival Siena Heights next Wednesday, March 23 at 4:00pm.
